Booliwah! Musical Sign Language for Babies

mom, baby, dadStarting July 16, the Southeast Library will be the home of Booliwah! Musical Sign Language for Babies.

What is booliwah? Booliwah! is a magical word that means anything, everything and whatever! Booliwah! classes combine yoga, music, sign language and culture into a rich stew of joyful learning.

Using the "Sing, Sign, Song" method, you and your baby can learn American Sign Language through simple rhymes. Interactive chants and songs focus on practical activities and family life through the seasons.

Enjoy a musical world of global rhythms, foreign languages, traditional folk songs, children's favorites and vintage nursery rhymes. Instruments and lyrics are provided, and every class ends in a jam session!

Who can come: babies birth to age 2, and their caregivers. Please note that newborns may be overwhelmed by our joyful noise. Preschool siblings are welcome: we have a few toddler instruments, or you can bring your own.

What to bring: Your baby, a blanket, instruments if you have them, and a smile!

This program will continue first and third Saturdays of the month through the rest of 2011.
