Novel Destinations is the theme of the Adult Summer Reading Program for 2011. It runs from May 21 to August 6. The Watha T. Daniel / Shaw Library will explore exciting literary landscapes from the world’s best writers – the Nobel Laureates of Literature. Featured authors are Orhan Pamuk, Herta Muller, Harold Pinter, Mario Vargas Llosa and J.M. Coetzee.
Paul Sweeney, librarian, Adult Services will present key features of each Nobel Prize-winning author's novels and the political and social implications of their works
The Shaw library will also feature “Asia Travelogues” by branch manager, Eric Riley, who will lead a presentation of his recent travels to Japan, China and Thailand.
Pinar Arcan, librarian from the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library, will present Orhan Pamuk and lead a discussion of his works.
The Shaw Library Reading Club will discuss the works of the Literature Nobel Laureates starting September 2011.
