DC Public Library Honors Activist Damu Smith

Leroy Wesley (“Damu”) Smith embodied the activist spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Throughout
the 1980s and 1990s, Smith served in many areas dedicated to economic and social justice.

Hear a panel of individuals discuss Smith’s life and career. Also, Archivist Derek Gray of the Washingtoniana Division will give an overview of the newly dedicated collection of Smith’s papers.
