New Library Opening Postponed

Interim Library Remains Open Until New Date is Set

The opening of the new Bellevue Neighborhood Library (formerly named Washington Highlands Neighborhood Library) at 115 Atlantic St. SW has been postponed due to manufacturing delays.  The Washington Highlands Interim Library at 4037 S. Capitol St. SW will remain open until a new date is determined.  The opening date will be posted as soon as possible.

The new 22,000 sq. ft. library will open with about 40,000 books, DVDs and other library materials, and includes areas for children, teens and adults; meeting/programming, conference and study rooms; and 40 computers and Wi-Fi Internet access.

The Bellevue Library is designed by world-renowned architect David Adjaye Associates.  This is the first public library to open in the United States designed by David Adjaye and only his second public library design.
