Mary Shapiro visits NW1

She asked the children: “What sorts of things do we wish on?” The children here wish on all types of things: stars, birthday candles, fountains and more.
Shapiro told the group that dreams and wishes are powerful things, and that we should share them in order to give them the strength to come true. She then shared original songs and inspiring stories from people in our nation’s history that had dreams.
The children participated in a reading of Dr. Martin Luther King’s famous “I Have a Dream Speech.” And of course, everyone signed up for Summer Reading Club!
Mary Shapiro will be visiting several other branches this summer with her message of strength and peace through original musical compositions.
