'Followers of the North Star' on Feb. 26 at 5 p.m.

This month's “Followers of the North Star” Black History Month Program will feature the documentary film Aunt Betty and Fort Stevens.
Produced by Marvin T. Jones, the film tells the story of Elizabeth Proctor Stevens (shown at left in 1911), a free woman of color who, despite losing her farm during the Civil War, becomes a heroine in her Washington, D.C. community. The story is told by the niece of Elizabeth Proctor Thomas, aka “Aunt Betty.”
This film is a production of DCTV, the public access network of Washington.
