Tween Book Club Selection for September

"Smile" by Raina Telgemeier

Cover art of "Smile"Raina is just your average sixth-grader: she loves goofing around with her friends and she's coping with her inevitable new set of braces in the coming weeks.  However, her life takes a turn when she loses a foot race after Girl Scouts and falls right on her face!  Now on top of navigating the uncertain waters of middle school, she has to contend with surgery, headgear, and a new wonky smile.

Telgemeier's semi-autobiographical tale is one that nearly every one can relate to: from relationship woes and frenemies, Raina learns all about growing and up the drama of wanting to fit in.
