Philosopher ThinkingThe Philosophy Café is a group of local citizens living mostly in the Shaw area who want to read and discuss the main ideas of great philosophers with a specific reference to contemporary implications of their ideas. The aim of the group is to choose short works by these great philosophers that will expose the members to key ideas of the author's system of thought.

Short works can be can be read quickly but the ideas advanced have important consequences. The tone of discourse will be casual and informal but the discussion itself will often be intense and lively. In the recent past, we have read everything from Spinoza's Ethics to Aristotle's Politics.

For October, we are reading the collection of the letters of Epicurus entitled The Art of Happiness. I hope you can come to our meetings on the first and fourth Tuesdays of each month.
