Freegal and Theo's Prom

A Downloadable Music Archive

Bill Cosby Dances at PromDo you remember this episode of the Cosby Show where Cliff and Claire have their own prom in the living room? In my recent obsessive revisiting of the iconic 80's show (on Hulu, not on YouTube), I was reminded of all the beautiful jazz and R&B music often playing in the background, like in this episode when the Huxtables slow dance to "Shake a Hand" by Faye Adams, a wonderful R&B singer that I would not have known about had I not been inspired by the show.

Faye Adams on FreegalWell, guess what?! Much of Adam's discography can be found in Freegal, our downloadable music database. Though Freegal pushes a lot of contemporary music on the front page, it has lots of gems and oldies like Adams, LaVern Baker, and the Platters.

Yes, the library still has many CDs to expand your musical horizons, but give Freegal a listen the next time you're on our website. Southeast Branch has a regular downloadable media clinic on the second Wednesday and fourth Thursday of every month where we can give you tips on using Freegal and any of our downloadable resources.
