Paula Young Shelton Book Signing

Paula Young SheltonPaula Young Shelton (second from right), daughter of Civil Rights activist and former United States Ambassador to the United Nations Andrew Young, read from her newly published book, Child of the Civil Rights Movement, to students from John Burroughs Elementary Educational Center and to library customers.

Over 90 attendees listened as Shelton read with feeling and enthusiasm as she recounted her fond memories of the late civil rights activist "Uncle Martin," the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.

The students were engaged, excited and asked Shelton numerous questions. Shelton shared endearing moments and her "first protest" with an excited audience. Local bookstore Fairy Godmother on Capital Hill provided books for the heavily purchased book signing.

Friends of the Woodridge Library supported this event.
