A Brand New Sandman

Cover of Sandman Overture #125 years after Neil Gaiman launched his now classic Sandman series, Vertigo comics and Gaiman have a brand new story to tell. Sandman: Overture #1 appeared on shelves in local comic book stores this month. Fans of the Sandman series may wonder if this is a good idea. Sandman was so influential and groundbreaking at the time it was written is it even possible a new story could live up to the massive expectations of critics and fans?

If Sandman Overture #1 is anything to go by then, yes. The art by J.H. Williams is wonderful, the story is tight and interesting. This new comic is a prequel, answering questions Gaiman didn't have a chance to deal with in his original run, so this is the prefect time to re-read the Sandman series. Or if you haven't read this amazing series yet, this is the perfect time to start.
