TransAtlanticJoin the Georgetown Book Club as we discuss Colum McCann's 2013 novel, TransAtlantic

In the novel, one family is shaped by three historical events: Frederick Douglass' 1845 visit to Ireland, the first transatlantic flight in 1919, and the Good Friday Agreement negotiations in 1998.

This selection and meeting are part of DC Public Library's celebration of Black History Month, and part of our discussion will focus on the role of civil rights in the novel and the fictional portrayal of Frederick Douglass.
