A Family's Folktale

Local mother and daughter co-authors Dawn and Dellaphine Chitty graced Rosedale Library with their presence for a read-aloud.

The charm of their family folktale, Bruh Beaver, Bruh Rabbit and the Man in the Moon, brought us a brief ray of light on an otherwise gray and soggy day. The ladies shared a bit about African and African-American oral traditions, and how their own family members have attempted to pass on folktales to their children as a means for preserving these precious tales.

We are so grateful that the Chittys took the time to be with us and look forward to their next folktale that will hopefully be published later on this year!
