Spring Time

In Like a Lion Out Like a LambApril has arrived and with expected showers. However, we can still enjoy all the joys that springtime brings with children’s books celebrating the return of green trees and tweeting birds among many other delights of the season abound.

Join us in the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library's Children's Room on Saturday, April 26 at 11:00 a.m. for a spring-themed Family Fun Time story time. Learn about the spring equinox and the ancient civilizations that developed celebrations to welcome the return of the sun and the promise of new crops and warmer weather. Also discover how springtime is celebrated in Mexico, Iran, India and what ancient rituals are at the roots of spring celebrations here in the United States. During the craft activity, children can make their own Spring scenes. Our story and craft program will include books that are childhood favorites in addition to new titles.
