Star Wars Celebration!

Star Wars Day at MLK Library Teen SpaceHave you ever watched the Star Wars movies or the Clone Wars series on Cartoon Network?  Are you looking forward to the Star Wars Episode 7 movie coming out in coming out next year?
For better or worse, the Star Wars universe is a part of our pop culture.  Even if you’ve never seen any Star Wars shows or movies, you’ve probably referenced something from them without realizing it.
To celebrate this part of our pop culture, the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library will be celebrating Star Wars Day, otherwise known as May The Fourth Be With You Day, on Sunday May 4.  Participants will test their knowledge in a Star Wars trivia contest and learn how to fold an origami Yoda (from the popular kid’s book by Tom Angleberger). The will also get to swing a lightsaber and pilot a starship as they play Star Wars Kinect on the Teen Space Xbox 360 video game console.
If that doesn’t make you feel like you could use the Force, check out the many Star Wars books and stories we have for readers of all ages in the DC Public Library collection.
