5th Annual Tour de DCPL
Approximately 40 bicyclists participated in the 5th Annual Tour de DCPL, Saturday, May 17. The free, community bike ride highlights DC Public Libraries by riding between locations throughout the city. This year we visited the newly renovated Northeast Neighborhood Library, the Rosedale and Deanwood combined Recreation and Library facilities, the Anacostia Neighborhood Library and the historic Southeast Neighborhood Library. A great help this year were the volunteers from Black Women Bike DC, who served as ride marshals, monitoring safety and assisting riders. Several participants said they felt more confident riding in the city after getting great advice from these seasoned DC cyclists. Thank you Black Women Bike DC! Also participating this year were staff from the Anacostia Waterfront Initiative who presented on their current and future projects, implementing critical bike paths and walking trails to keep this city's transportation efforts green! Participants agreed that utilizing the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail was a highlight of this year's ride. Further thanks goes to Capitol Hill Bikes, Capital Bikeshare, Friends groups of the Northeast, Southeast, and Rosedale Neighborhood Libraries, The DCPL Foundation, and of course, our A-MAZING DCPL Staff! See our pics from the ride here.
