"An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge"

Image of promo for "Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge"The West End Interim Library will present a screening of the 1962 French short film La Riviere du Hibou ("The Owl River"), an adaptation of the American short story "An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge" (1891) by Ambrose Bierce, at St. Mary's Court, a local residential living facility for seniors and a community partner, on Monday, June 23, at 7 p.m.  The address is 725 24th Street, NW. 

The film was directed by Robert Enrico and produced by Marcel Ichac and Paul de Roubaix with music by Henri Lanoe.  It won first prize for Best Short Subject at the 1962 Cannes Film Festival and the 1963 Academy Award for Live Action Short Film.   It was screened on American television as an episode of The Twilight Zone in 1964.
