Family Science Fun Day Sundays
This summer bring the whole family over to the Mount Pleasant Neighborhood Library to learn about NASA's Global Precipitation Measurement Mission. During some of our Family Fun Day Sundays we will be learning about the work this mission does with hands-on activities! All events will be held in the Children's Room on the second floor of the library. Children of all ages and their parents and caregivers are welcome to attend.
Sunday, June 29 at 2 p.m. - Engineering for Hurricanes
Discover how this mission collects information to help us learn about hurricanes and other extreme weather events. We’ll build towers out of household materials and test them against “hurricane” winds.
Sunday, July 20 at 2 p.m. - Make Your Own Rain Gauge
Discover the importance of collecting information about rainfall by building and testing your own rain gauge.
Sunday, August 10 at 2 p.m. - Edible Satellites
Discover the mechanics of the satellite used by the Global Precipitation Measurement Mission to collect data as we build our own satellites out of edible treats!
