Enjoy an "awe-Summer" time at Petworth Library with our daily menu of Summer Youth Cafe activities:


Make It and Take It!
Food is fuel for your imagination! Use only the materials that we supply for your clever creations. Receive library giveaway books for participating. Visual art, crafts and cookbooks will be on display for check out.

Turn It Up Tuesday!
Munch your lunch and “please don’t stop the music”! As you wait for your turn in the spotlight, let the music inspire you to express yourself on a mural that will decorate our space until the following week. Books and magazines about music, poetry, celebrities and the performing arts will be available for check out.

Wii Love Games
Recharge with lunch, then get active with Wii Sports or “vintage” Play Station (you can also bring your own Wii & PS2 games to play with others). Action-adventure graphic novels and Easy Readers will be featured.

Throwback Thursdays
After your lunch, get “unplugged” as you play classic board games, jump rope, complete word puzzles, trivia questions, literary scavenger hunts and more. Books that feature toys, jokes, and sports will be on hand.

Our Friday Family Feature 
Enjoy your meal while you watch a family-friendly film. Movie-adapted books will be on display for interested readers to check out.

*The Petworth Library Summer Kids Cafe is a DC Free Summer Meals Program. It is open from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday from July 8 through Aug. 16. Meals are free for youth age 18 and under and no I.D. is required.
