Session 3: 'The Moor's Last Sigh' by Salman Rushdie

On Thursday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m., at the third session of Dr. Phil Burnham's six-part monthly series, we will discuss Salman Rushdie's The Moor's Last Sigh.

This book, Salman Rushdie's first novel after the fatwa issued by the Ayatollah Khomeini seeking his death, is vintage Rushdie: fast-paced, allusive, stunning in detail, a saga of family feuding that spans generations and continents. Though not the best known of his work, it ranks with his finest fiction and won the Whitbread Prize [now called the Costa Book Award] in 1995.

Literature of the English-Speaking World will be held monthly at 7 p.m.:
Dec. 11,  Looking for Transwonderland by Noo Saro-Wiwa (Nigeria)
Jan. 8, The Sheltering Sky by Paul Bowles (United States)
Feb. 12, Runaway by Alice Munro (Canada)

Call 202-282-3072 or come to the Information Desk to register.
