Banned Books Week Caricature Artist
The ALA's list of top ten most frequently challenged books for 2013 include Captain Underpants, The Hunger Games and The Perks of Being a Wallflower.
Banning a book is an awful thing. It is an attempt to restrict our personal rights. It is an act that limits rather than liberates. Every year, libraries rally against those who wish to limit access to some of our most revered books by promoting, celebrating and bringing awareness to those dangerous titles that make it to the exclusive Banned Books club.
Join us at Northwest One Neighborhood Library on Sept. 22 at 11 a.m. to celebrate Banned Books Week with local caricature artist Paul Merklein. He will be making caricature art inspired by some of our most beloved banned books and characters. Or check out one of these provocative titles at your neighborhood library.
