The Northeasterners were organized in 1930 mainly by college-educated and socially prominent black women throughout the eastern United States. The group was originally known as the Gay Northeasterners. The organization has a scholarship program and is involved in a number of outreach activities.

Scope and Content

The papers consist of correspondence, by-laws of the organization, meeting minutes, financial reports, a short history, member information, and photographs.
