October is Finally Here!

Time to celebrate Halloween and more!

Now that it's October, we can look forward to cooler temperatures, the leaves falling to the ground, and lots of sweater-wearing.

At the West End Children's Room, we can also look forward to lots of new and exciting October programming!
  • Monthly Manga Mondays will be a new program starting up. Appropriate for ages 9+, we will be showing a movie and discussing anime and manga. The fun starts Monday, Oct. 6 at 3:30 p.m.
  • Oct. 18 at 2 p.m. will mark the first convening of a brand new children's book club (ages 9-12). We will use the meeting to get to know each other and vote on a book to read for the next month!
  • We will be also having an exciting Wii program on Oct. 15 at 4:30 p.m. (ages 8-14).
  • We'll be having two special story time programs as well! Monday, Oct. 6, in place of our normally scheduled preschool story time (11:00 a.m.), we will be holding a special, shortened story time for ages 3-5 with engaging wordless picture books!
  • Our second special story time program will be a weekend session, Oct. 19 at 4 p.m. (ages 3-5). I encourage you to come by with your child and bring a stuffed animal that they would be comfortable leaving in the library overnight. The animals may then have some adventures of their own!
  • Finally, we will be having a special Halloween Party on Oct. 28 at 3 p.m. for ages 2-12. We encourage you to come in costume and celebrate the season! More details to follow, but plan on a Dracula theme!
While you settle into October, take a look at a few of our great Halloween Reads!
