'Saving Our Sons' Revisited

A 20th anniversary commemoration of ground-breaking book

Please join us on Thursday, Feb. 19 at 6:30 p.m. for a timely discussion in honor of the 20th anniversary of Saving Our Sons: Raising Black Children in a Turbulent World.

Marita Golden's groundbreaking book sparked national discussion about the fate and lives of young Black men when it was published in 1995.

Ayana Watkins-Northern, Director of the Howard University Student Counseling Center; Yaya Bey, an activist with the D.C. chapter of Black Lives Matter; and Roach Brown, a Criminal Justice Consultant, will join author Marita Golden for a reading from and reconsideration of Saving Our Sons and to discuss contemporary challenges faced by young Black men and women 20 years after the book's publication.

Signed copies of the book will be available for purchase after the event.
