'S Street Rising: Crack, Murder, and Redemption in D.C. '

S Street Rising: Crack, Murder, and Redemption in D.C. discusses the streets of Washington, D.C. before gentrification took place in Northwest.

Its author, Ruben Castaneda, worked for 22 years as a staff writer at The Washington Post. The author struggled with his own personal addicitions while covering the police beat. S Street, a 24-7 open-air crack market, was home to drug dealers, drug users, police and a fledgling church.

Read what happens to all of them and then join us Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. to discuss the book.
