Donates handmade hats and scarves for charity

Watha T. Daniel/Shaw Neighborhood Library's dedicated weekly knitting group not only socializes and knits, but enjoys making items for charity!

One of our members was knitting a scarf for donation to the Alexandria Public Library, who was having a knitted items drive, and one of our other experienced members expressed interest. The following week she presented two hats she had knitted for donation. The deadline, however, had passed for the Alexandria Library's donation drive, but the charity organization So Others Might Eat (SOME) in Northwest Washington was interested in accepting handmade donations.

In total, this January, we donated three hats and three scarves to SOME!

If you are interested in coming to our weekly knitting club on Sundays at 3 p.m., or are interested in how you can knit items for charity, please contact Librarian Janna Tanner or Library Associate Jesse Sigman at 202-727-1288.
