Wild women of the Civil War era

Mary Todd Lincoln. Dr. Mary E. Walker. Rose O'Neal Greenhow. Kate Chase Sprague.

These are a few of the women who fascinated and shocked Washington society during the Civil War. On Thursday, March 12, 7 p.m., Canden Schwantes Arciniega will be speaking about women of the Civil War period featured in her book Wild Women of Washington, D.C., which includes women turning up their noses at ladylike behavior throughout the city's history.
