Screenwriting 101

Want to make a million in Hollywood? Come learn the basics of screenwriting for TV and film at Screenwriting 101.

This informative workshop will be led by Evan Balkan

Evan Balkan is the author of six published books of non-fiction, most notably, The Wrath of God: Lope de Aguirre, Revolutionary of the Americas, as well as Walking Baltimore, 60 Hikes Within 60 Miles: Baltimore, and Best in Tent Camping: Maryland.

A graduate of the Johns Hopkins MA in Writing Program, Evan has received an Individual Artist Award for Fiction from the Maryland State Arts Council and holds degrees from Towson and George Mason universities. He is currently a Professor and Coordinator of the English Department at the Community College of Baltimore County, where he teaches screenwriting and oversees the Creative Writing program.

His most recent screenplay, Spitfire, was a finalist in the 2013 Baltimore Screenwriters Competition and is currently with a producer whose latest work has been on the Netflix series, House of Cards. He has served as a guest lecturer at Johns Hopkins, Yale, Bryn Mawr and many other institutions.

This workshop will take place in the Lower Level Meeting Room. All are welcome to attend.
