Celebrations at Smithsonian's American Art Museum

Culture, arts and entertainment

Rich cultural experiences and celebrations abound in Washington, D.C.! All you have to do to join in on the fun is step outside your door and take advantage of these free events!

The DC Public Library has been getting in on the action at the Smithsonian's American Art Museum Family Days. Using Library Takeout, attendees have been signing up for library cards and checking out books at the Kogod Courtyard.

Back in February, DC Public Library provided a reading corner for families to enjoy the wide variety of books available on the Chinese New Year in both English and Chinese. Families also enjoyed traditional performances by the Fairfax Chinese Dance Troupe (not pictured), the Yong Han Lion Dance Troupe, and the Shaanxi Folk Arts Group. Crafts with the Confucius Institute and calligraphy demonstrations by John Wang rounded out the day's events.

Don't miss out on all the fun!

The DC Public Library librarians will be at it again on Saturday, April 4 for the Cherry Blossom Family Celebration.
