The Library Basement Show

Bands' Book Picks

Musicians - they make great music and write powerful lyrics. Ever wonder if it’s because of reading striking and influential books? We asked the bands playing the April 2 Library Basement Show:

What book changed your life after you read it?

Here are their responses.

Coup Sauvage & the Snips:

Pleasure Curses:

Cat Jack:

Who are their favorite musicians?

Cat Jack:

"Fugazi, Fairweather and Benjy Ferree."

Pleasure Curses:

"Q & Not U are mutual favorites growing up. We have too many friends in bands for this not to be a loaded question."

Coup Sauvage & the Snips:

  • "It's impossible to pick just one: the list goes on and on," says Elizabeth Sauvage. "But I'll pick one with an often forgotten D.C. connection. The Great Bo Diddley -- The Originator. He wasn't born here but moved to D.C. and considered it his second home. He recorded the classic Bo Diddley is a Gunslinger in his home recording studio, where he also recorded the likes of Marvin Gaye. Go Bo Diddley!"
  • Kristina Sauvage: "It's a tie between Blelvis and E.U."
  • Rain Sauvage: "Coup Sauvage and the Snips."
Well, if she's right, you should probably come to this show! You can also take a look at our DC Punk Archive collection and happenings at dclibrary.org/punk.
