Powerful Reading
Free Comic Book Day
Readers of all ages enjoy comics, but on May 2, children and teens across the city were able to browse and select a free comic at their closest public library. Thanks to Big Planet Comics, all District of Columbia Public Library locations received multiple copies of popular stories from Manga, Marvel, IDW and more.
Two young readers, Ezra Marshall and Stacey Young, captured the spirit of the day at the William O. Lockridge/Bellevue Library by posing for photos and encouraging others to read more comics.
Every Hero Has a Story, the Library's summer reading program for all ages begins May 30. Get inspired with comics and other heroic reading, now, and keep it going through the summer, because, after all, reading is good for us.
