Come and Self-Publish With the DC Library Press

Labs at DC Public Library class offerings for aspiring writers

Maybe you've been working on your memoirs or a collection of self-help techniques? Perhaps you enjoy writing poetry and short stories? Considering publishing your writing from NaNoWriMo?

If any of these ideas strike a chord with you then you should definitely come visit the Digital Commons

The Digital Commons is the home of the DC Library Press and the revolutionary Espresso Book Machine, or EBM for short. The EBM prints, glues, binds, and trims a retail-quality paperback in about five minutes. Click here for a video. Who could have imagined that it was possible to go from unpublished to best seller in as little as five minutes? If you've got the motivation but still need the know-how, then come take the self-publishing classes offered at the Digital Commons.

Self-Publishing 101 will introduce you to the EBM and help you to understand the technical requirements to the process. You'll also learn about pricing and how to get your free ISBN so that you can sell your book commercially. Attendance is required to print your book!

Self-Publishing 201 and 202 will help you become acquainted with some of the many powerful word processing features available in Microsoft Word and you'll learn how you can use them to become a better and more productive self-publisher.

Check out the Labs at DCPL calendar for a schedule of classes and definitely check out OnDemandBooks for more information about the Espresso Book Machine.
