Back to School Health and Fitness Program

Thank You for Participating!

A hearty thanks to the Capitol View and Marshall Heights communities for their participation in our Third Annual Back-to-School Health and Fitness Program.

On Thursday,  Aug. 20, 131 children, youth, teens and adults turned out for the exciting four-hour event. In addition to receiving school supplies that included 125 backpacks, kids and teens enjoyed hip-hop music, face painting, double dutch jump rope and plenty of hot dogs, chips, cookies and soft drinks.

Attendees were a captive audience for representatives from the Metropolitan Police Department, District Department of Transportation, District Department of  Environment, Girlz Mentoring Program and the Children's National Medical Center. Representatives provided health and safety tips as well as distributed literature.

Children, ages 3 to 12 with parental consent, also took advantage of the Colgate Bright Smiles, Bright Futures program. Aboard the mobile dental van parked in the rear, they received a toothbrush and toothpaste, brushing instructions and a referral if warranted.

We look forward to another exciting program in August 2016.  It is our pleasure to serve you!
