Meet Charlotte!

A Mt. Pleasant Library Volunteer

Charlotte is a PAL volunteer and visits the Mt Pleasant Neighborhood Library when her schedule permits.

Here are ten fun facts about Princess Charlotte:

  1. Charlotte was born in 2007.
  2. Charlotte’s birthday is on July 4th.
  3. Charlotte is a 90lb Great Pyrenees (Note: Males can grow to over 150lbs!).
  4. Charlotte has two coats, one to keep her warm in the winter and one to insulate her against heat in the summer.
  5. Charlotte has "double dewclaws" on her back legs which are like thumbs.  They help her climb steep mountains and maintain balance.
  6. Charlotte’s breed was named the Royal Dog of France in 1675 by Louis XIV
  7. Charlotte is naturally gentle, friendly, and protective of small animals and children (like other Great Pyrenees).
  8. Charlotte loves to go on long walks, sometimes over three miles.
  9. Charlotte’s breed traveled with Genghis Kahn from China and settled in France and Spain almost 800 years ago. Great Pyrenees were bred to guard flocks of sheep in the Pyrenees between France and Spain.
  10. Charlotte's favorite doggy treat is duck-wrapped sweet potato.
Please come to our PAL Pajama Party on Wednesday nights at 7 pm to read to Charlotte!
