Georgetown Book Club: God Help the Child

Selection for January

As its title suggests, Toni Morrison's 2015 novel God Help the Child centers on childhood -- specifically, how both its hurts and frustrations and the actions to which they can lead can reverberate into adulthood.

Morrison's first novel to be set in the contemporary moment, God Help the Child follows Bride, a dark-skinned woman whose appearance led her mother to reject her and whose lie in the face of that rejection transformed the lives of all involved -- and continues to impact Bride, now a successful entrepreneur.

Join the Georgetown Book Club as we discuss God Help the Child by Toni Morrison on Thursday, Jan. 21 at 7:30 p.m. Copies are currently available at the Georgetown Neighborhood Library, and everyone is welcome!
