Tour de DCPL VII

Saturday, May 14, 2016, 9 a.m.

Every year, to celebrate National Bike Month, a group of library staff, advocates and community members strap on their bike helmets to help the DC Public Library promote environmentally friendly transportation and explore how our libraries connect with the communities they serve.

For the first time, the Tour de DCPL will include two branches from neighboring library systems in Maryland. The Tour de DCPL VII will start at the Takoma Park Neighborhood Library, with check in beginning at 9 am. We will leave promptly at 9:30, visiting the newly made over Shepherd Park (Juanita Thornton) Library, the Takoma Park Maryland Library, the newly-built Silver Spring Library, Chevy Chase Neighborhood Library, and Tenley-Friendship Neighborhood Library. For our seventh ride, we are excited to go check in on our friends in Maryland as well as show off DCPL's finest. The route will take us through a variety of paths and neighborhoods which we think will make for a pleasant Saturday morning ride. Free snacks and water will be provided, courtesy of the Federation of Friends of the DC Public Library. All participants must wear a helmet.
