Bring oral histories to life

Dive into the history of our city and revive decades' worth of oral histories from the Library's Special Collections in this unique three-hour workshop on Wednesday, April 27 at 6 p.m. You'll learn the basics of working with oral histories while cutting a raw interview from the March on Washington 50th Anniversary Oral History Project into a short, engaging piece to share with the whole world.

Participants in this hands-on class will learn about interview logging and practice the basics of audio editing using Audacity, an open-source software. You'll need a laptop and headphones to participate so bring your own, or we can provide a pair for you. By the end of the course, every participant will produce a short piece to share.

This class is provided in partnership with Takoma Radio WOWD-LP 94.3 FM. Take a listen to previous pieces made from the DCPL oral history archives below.
