First Robotics & Lego League Competition

Northwest One Hosted an "Animal Allies" Themed Gaming Station

Library Associate, Janelle Ricks had the pleasure to attend the First Robotics & Lego League competition on Saturday June 4, 2016 at the Walker-Jones Education Campus. It was nice to see school aged children with so much enthusiasm about engineering and the wonderful inventions that were created as a result of it. There were small groups of children, parents and supporters from both DC public schools and local charter schools. Although this years competition is over, next year's theme is "Animal Allies." Northwest One Library continues to enrich our partnership with Walker Jones and provided interactive animal games, animal felt-board stories, animal themed books and a short display on animal collective nouns. Janelle also conversed with students about animals in an effort to get their minds churning about next years project. All of the participants showcased great projects and Northwest One Library looks forward to working with Walker Jones in the upcoming Robotics and Lego League Challenge in the Fall.

Congratulations to all of the winners!
