PROVENANCE

HISTORY

The Georgetown Project was a joint effort by PEPCO, Verizon, Washington Gas, the D.C. Water and Sewer Authority and the District Department of Transportation.  The project encompassed a major upgrade of Georgetown's underground utility infrastructure and streetscape. The project began in October 2001 and was completed in July 2005. 

Phase I

M Street, N.W. - 29th Street to Key Bridge, October 2001 through 2004  

Phase II

Wisconsin Avenue, N.W. - M Street to S Street,  July 2002 through 2005  

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

The Georgetown Project collection consists of a wide variety of documents consisting of DDOT memos, faxes, meeting notes, emails, printed PowerPoint presentations, press clipping/releases, web page printouts,  and submitted letters from area businesses impacted by the street project. 
 
Subject headings were devised by creators.
