Writers Working and DC Writes: The Petworth Library Writers Workshops

Next date: Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017, 7 p.m. (see all dates)

The Petworth Library holds writers workshop on alternating Tuesdays (Writer's Working) and Wednesdays (DC Writes). To inquire about the workshops, please send an email to chris.stevenson@dc.gov or call 202-243-1187.

The Petworth Library's writerworkshops are made up of people from a variety of backgrounds and writing levels: beginners, veteran wordsmiths, and emeriti. We write creative nonfiction, fiction, poetry, and scripts.

Unlike pay for play
workshops or academic workshops, participants of community workshops have the opportunity to forge sustained relationships with the membership, allowing for peers to get to know each other and take pieces being workshopped seriously. This works in contrast to many workshops which frequently involve participants placing their personal opinion over what's valuable to the piece or the writer. Come join a community group and we can help each other put our brains to pen and our pens to paper.
