Genealogy Database Workshop

Beginning to trace your Family Tree? Maybe you have researched a good amount of your family history and are seeking other resources to help you dig deeper into your roots.  This 2-hour workshop will introduce participants to database resources that are accessible in DC Public Libraries and outside the libraries if you have a DC Library card.

Required Skills:
  • The ability to read and comprehend English well
  • Basic computer and Web navigational skills
  • Aptitude in using a keyboard and mouse
Objectives: Come and learn how to navigate the following genealogical databases:
  • Heritage Quest, a genealogical database accessed through dclibrary.org
  • Historic Washington Post & Baltimore Afro-American newspaper databases
  • Recently acquired Evening Star
Sample searches will be conducted to highlight the features and advantages of each online genealogical resource.
