'InterGalactic InterGeneration Station' at the Funk Parade

Join your local library at the Funk Parade this year, with the InterGalactic InterGeneration Station at Harrison Recreation Center (1330 V St. NW). We'll be exploring the world of percussion with live performances, build-your-own drum workshops, costume creation stations and more, all in the theme of this year's event: Future Funk!

Performance Schedule:
  • 12 p.m. - Sticks & Bars Youth Marimba Ensemble
  • 12:45 p.m. - Pan Lara Steel Drum Band
  • 1:30 p.m. - In the Pocket: a Go-Go Conga Masterclass with legends Keith "Hot Sauce" Robinson of Backyard Band, Sean "Moolie" Frye of Uncalled 4 Band, Marcus "Spook" Duckett of New Impressionz Band and host, Black Pooh of Junk Yard Band.
  • 2:30 p.m. - Rhythm workshop and a Kid's Funk Parade (we'll march to the big parade on U Street with our instruments made out of recycled materials!)
12 - 3 p.m. in the field
  • 7DrumCity hosts instrument construction and drum building workshops
  • YMCA games and activities
  • Efron the Wizard's Yo-Yo Workshop
  • Soka Tribe Dance Workshop
