Green Building Design

The library is seeking LEED Certification of at least Silver for all new buildings. Specific energy efficient features vary by location, and include elements such as:

raised floors for optimized air circulation
vegetative green roofs or white reflective roofs
sun screens
materials with high recycled content
low-flow and “smart” plumbing fixtures
“smart” light fixtures
drought-resistance landscaping
bicycle racks
