1968

Book Display

Throughout the year DC Public Library will be commemorating the 50th anniversary of the events of 1968, a historic year for both D.C. and the country.

The assassinations of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert F. Kennedy, the Poor People's Campaign, the founding of the Duke Ellington School for the Arts and Federal City College (UDC) and the groundbreaking of our Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library all happened in 1968.

Visit the Parklands-Turner Library to see the display of books staff have gathered to honor this historic year.

Find out what DCPL is doing this year in commemoration and check out the 1968 news release. Also, be sure to visit the Poor People's Campaign Collection online at Dig DC.
