Fab Test Lab

This certification will teach you everything you need to know about using our sewing machines in the Fab Test Lab. Learn how to thread the machine, proper hand placement, and everything else you need to start sewing straight lines and curves. Space is limited due to the hands-on nature of the class, so you must register at bit.ly/labsclasses to reserve your spot.*

Learn everything you need to know about creating files for the laser cutter and using the machine. This class will go over the basics of laser cutting, safety procedures and the required software (Adobe Illustrator). Students will then be required to design and successfully cut a simple .svg file. Previous knowledge of design software is recommended.  All students will need to complete a Fab Test Lab Safety Orientation before they can take this class.

Have pants that need hemming? A popped button you don't know how to sew back on? A rip in your favorite dress? Bring your (clean) clothing to this workshop to learn mending basics! We provide sewing machines, needles, thread, fabric and many other notions to help you learn how to fix your own clothes.  Please note that we don't have tools on hand for making repairs to thick materials like leather. Learn how to use the Ultimaker 3 in an hour long class. After certification, you will be eligible to reserve time on the Fab Test Lab's 3D printers. Please arrive promptly at the start time of the class to ensure participation. Please note that a Fab Lab Safety Orientation must be completed prior to certification.
