Statement From Gregory M. McCarthy on Mayor Bowser's FY 2020 Budget

Mayor Muriel Bowser’s proposed FY 2020 budget for the District of Columbia Public Library is $67,005,859, which represents a 4.2 percent increase over its FY 2019 budget of $64,318,925. The FY 2020 budget includes an enhancement of $1,508,148 and 35 staff members to support the opening and operation of the modernized Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library, a state-of-the-art facility that will become the center of activity for the already vibrant downtown area. The modernized library will reopen in 2020 with more than 200,000 square feet of public programming space, an increase of 60 percent.
