Fearless Art with Meg Artley

Next date: Thursday, May 23, 2019, 1 p.m. (see all dates)

Discover (or re-discover) and tap into your own creative power. Using the theories of creativity and art-making expressed by Julia Cameron in The Artist’s Way and Elizabeth Gilbert in Big Magic as guideposts, participants play, discover, and embrace process rather than perfection to see what the universe has in store for them that day. Each class session will focus on a new project and technique, working with colored pencils, watercolor, pen and ink, acrylic paints, building 3 dimensional forms, and collage. Delve into concepts of self, intuitive color and forms as we find the spirited calm an hour and a half of art making will bring you. Register in advance with carol.auerbach@dc.gov.This class is intended for D.C. Residents age 60 plus, but all adults are welcome. Supplies and materials are provided.

While she worked at the Corcoran College of Art and Design, Meg Artley, an experienced Registered Yoga Teacher, studied drawing and painting as an adult student. Meg takes and shares joy in the process of making and enjoying visual art — from the technique and mindful focus required, to the universal language spoken, shared and heard.
