Google Computer Science First Coding Mini-Camp

Last date: Thursday, Aug. 15, 2019, 1:30 p.m. (see all dates)

Like playing computer games? Ever dream of building your own?  Then, join our Google CS First Coding Mini-Camp!  We will use the MIT Scratch Program and Google CS First to create an animated story, create a music video and more!

This mini-camp runs from Aug. 13 -15 from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Children entering Grades 1-6  are welcome but participants must be able to use keyboard & mouse.

What are mini-camps?  Our summer mini-camps are a great way for children to learn and have fun.  From hands-on science experiments to acting in a theatrical version of a beloved picture book classic, your child will have the opportunity to explore a subject that appeals to them.  Best of all, our mini-camps are free! But, they are different than our regular library programs. So, here are a few things you should know:
  • Summer Mini-Camps for school age children are ticketed on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Mini-camps for children entering first-sixth grades take place over three consecutive days (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday).  Each day, we will meet for a 90 minute class from 1:30- 3 p.m. While each day is an inclusive event, we encourage you to bring your child to all three days and stay for the entire 90 minutes.
  • Summer camps run by organizations and schools in the Mt. Pleasant Neighborhood may attend as a group, but registration is required. As room capacity and supplies are limited, all participation must be scheduled.  Please contact Children’s Librarian Tara Thomas via email at tara.thomas@dc.gov for more information.
Please note: Summer Mini-Camps for school age children are offered exclusively at the Mt. Pleasant Neighborhood Library.
