Hear Mt. Pleasant: A Roundtable Discussion

Sunday, May 19, 2019, 3 p.m.

Join us for the first in a series of Know Your Neighbors, Know Your History programs sponsored by the Mount Pleasant Village Diversity Committee as we engage in a conversation anchored by Mt. Pleasant Village members Claudia Schlosberg (a lawyer with a focus on Medicare/Medicaid Policy), Wayne Kahn (founder of the record label Right on Rhythm), alongside restaurant owners Alberto Ferrufino (Don Juan’s), Don Jaime (Don Jaime’s), and Haydee & Mario Vanegas (Haydee’s).

The conversation will focus on the successful effort that brought music back to Mt. Pleasant restaurants after the dismantling of “voluntary agreements” that Mt. Pleasant Latino restaurants were forced to sign.

Mount Pleasant Village member Olivia Cadaval, former Smithsonian Folklife Curator and former Director of El Centro de Arte will moderate the discussion which will also include jazz musician Roger St. John and Eugene Stevanus.
