Sew a Giant Squid

Sew a Giant Squid

Saturday, July 13, 2019, 2 p.m.

Want to learn more about sewing, but bored with first-time projects like pillows and drawstring bags? Help the Fab Test Lab sew a squid!

Over the next several weeks, the Fab Test Lab will hold a series of weekend "squidding bees" where patrons can create part of an eight foot long plush squid. Though the end product will be very large, the process of creating the squid will be broken down into simple sewing tasks that will be shared by a class. Come to one class, or come to them all! The finished squid will be displayed in the Fab Test Lab for years to come.

In the first two classes, patrons will learn how to create squid legs. Sewing machines, fabric, and all other supplies will be provided.

All patrons will need to complete a safety certification before attending a "Sew a Squid" class. Patrons who wish to use sewing machines during the class will also need to complete a sewing machine certification class. Class sizes are limited, so please sign up at bit.ly/labsclasses.
